▶︎ The story of Blockchain Messaging begun on July 15, 2020, when notorious hacker gained control of prominent Twitter accounts, such as Elon Musk, Bill Gates and Apple. The hacker then executed a ‘doubling Bitcoin’ scam, enticing users to send funds with the promise of receiving double the amount in return!

Following this incident, a distinctive Bitcoin transaction was sent to the hacker’s address. However, this transaction was not ordinary; it carried a message within!

Here we see a readable message encoded in 6 base58 bitcoin addresses, which reads:

How does Base58 address work?

In Bitcoin, there is no formal registration process for addresses. Private keys, along with their corresponding public keys (addresses), can be generated offline using mathematical algorithms.

Finding an address matching a particular pattern would require an average of around ∼1.218×10^44 attempts. With the help of a modern GPU, an address generator can produce approximately 500 million addresses per second (5×10^8). That might sound promising, but even with such speed, the endeavour would still demand about 2.56×10^35 seconds, amounting to an astronomical 5.8×10^17 times the age of the universe. It’s safe to say that within this vast expanse, the notion of cracking a specific pattern through brute force becomes utterly implausible!

However!

We found the way to create a custom base58 bitcoin addresses that could be perfect for engraving a message or a memory! And no, we’re not hacking Bitcoin (though that would be cool 😅).
